The mintage was just 3,000 pieces, but few gold dollars circulated in 1879 or later. The mintage went primarily to collectors, dealers, investors, and jewelers, where many pieces were well-preserved. This is an outstanding Premium Gem, with gleaming yellow-gold surfaces displaying swirling mint luster with a trace of reflectivity in the fields. Sharply struck devices. Faint die clashing visits the nearly mark-free, reflective surfaces.
